Nebraska

Nebraska gets a bad rap. I confess to openly hating on this state (just a little bit). Now I shall admit - yes, you are reading this correctly - to adoring it for being easy to dismiss and difficult to love.

When you're traveling toward the majestic Rockies, it's hard not to grow impatient driving across such a long, flat expanse. But, speeding through Nebraska means entering the land of wide, open and sparsely populated spaces. I think of this stretch as an opportunity to practice living in the moment, and I have to say this state never fails to offer some amazing skies.

With Chris at the wheel, I looked out for tumbleweeds (not one!) and indulged in my new favorite road-trip pastime: passenger-seat photography through bug-splattered windshields.
